Music, physical theatre, circus, storytelling, visual art and the uncategorisable will all find their place within one of the highly decorated tents, out in the open park or around the communal fire.
Highlights include So You Think You Can Interpretive Dance, the Famous Village Dog Show (bring your dog, no cats!), the sideshow carnival with old-style games and lolly shop re-invented for 2015, 10 Minute Dance Parties, local storytelling and the Rascal-maine Stage, run entirely by young people.
At dusk, be part of the fire lighting ritual that is the culmination of Stories of Castlemaine. This project has collected personal stories about Castlemaine places from town elders, which have then been artistically interpreted by five groups of local community members under the guidance of experienced artists. See these stories brought to life through steampunk theatre, music, circus, puppetry and pyrotechnics and treat yourself to a walking tour that brings the town’s history to life in a new way.
Back at Victory Park, good local food and drink are also on offer, adding to the convivial atmosphere.
